Basic problem:
Flashing cursor on boot
What got me here:
Installed Ubuntu Server 12.04 to a USB Thumbdrive
Configured bunch of stuff for media server
Installed new 4 TB Drive
Used fdisk (cause I'm a dummy)
Moved all my old media from a 1TB drive to the 4TB
Started to move all my old media from a 2TB drive but the 4TB ran out of space
Found out about GPT
Jumped through hoops and got the 4TB to GPT and expanded to the whole drive. No data loss (woo hoo)
everything was horrible slow, blamed USB drive install
Used Clonezilla to backup the USB drive and restore to a 1 TB drive
Repartitioned 1TB drive to have 100GB at the beginning for the root and 20GB at the end for SWAP (going to put the other partitions in later, I deleted them because I'm having boot trouble and figured get them out of the way)
I can mount the sda1 and see all of my data (root, grub, opt, etc, all that jazz)
Won't boot.
Ran boot-repair live
Says it installed and it is good to go
Reboot, flashing cursor.
Cried a little
Tried it again using advanced options to purge the old
same
Cried a little more
Tried boot-repair with just recommended
tried again
same
cried more
gave up
came here
Here is the paste from boot repair
