Looks like it's been fixed now. I suspect they've made registration mandatory. Previously, AFAICT, one didn't need to sign up in order to post.

I was wrong. While registration was temporarily made necessary to post a question, spammers are now posting answers.

I can only wonder about the reluctance to make registering necessary for all interaction. It's almost as though a revenue loss to someone would result.
