UNITY: Ubuntu 13.10 broke unity for me.

Ever since the update to 13.10, I've been having massive problems. The biggest is the 'sleep of death' that keeps occurring and 95% of the time there is no recovery.

Any advice?

I don't know what the sleep of death is, or refers to?
A basic understanding of your system specs, would probably gives us an understanding of what you're working with, though.

By 'sleep of death', I am refering to the computer going to sleep and never coming out of it without a hard reset.
Specs:

Ubuntu 13.10 x64 (latest updates)
AMD A8-5600k Quad Core APU
4gb of ram
