Installation Live cd wont load shows black screen with purple stripe.

Trying to install the latest version of ubuntu. Ran it on my old computer but im having problems running it on my current build.
so ive downloaded the dvd burned it and verified it.

Here are my specs:
Intel I7 2600K
Asus Rampage Maximus V Formula
16 GBs of corsair Ram
Geforece 660Ti
Asus Dvd drive.
Intel 80 GB SSD
Western Digital Caviar green 2TB HDD

As I said Ive tried to boot to install and live cd both seem to halt with a thin purple line on the left side.

I really would like to get this to work. Im fed up with my current close sourced operating system.

Help would be gratefully appreciated

When you boot to the DVD, at the first screen you see hit F6 and you should get a menu appear with various boot options.

Try them one by one starting with nomodeset, and you may suddenly find you can boot to a usable desktop.
