How do you run gedit. It is a GUI editor, and will normally create its own window, when you start it from a menu or dash or a terminal window. Are you running it via ssh?

But if it is only a warning, and gedit works as usual, I guess it is a minor bug, that you need not worry about. Several programs show such warnings, when started from a terminal.

Darn, My apologies, I was thinking cut & paste, text terminal to another terminal. It's text terminal to GUI.

That is possible two ways.

The Windows way: Copy and paste by marking and hotkey or drop-down menu.

The linux way: Mark (only) by pressing the left mouse button and move till the text is marked. Paste at the cursor in the other window by clicking the middle button or wheel (or both keys at the same time if there is no middle button).

Both ways are possible between terminals as well as GUI editors (when different kinds and the same kinds).
