View Full Version : [SOLVED] Fresh Install of 13.10 Mozilla Firefox & Thunderbird CRASHES over & over

What Repositories should we allow besides Canonical for v13.10 updates?

Any suggestions regarding the CRASHES? Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird completely unstable. Neither will run past a minute without Crashing. Also, should Crash Reports ask for your Login Credentials everytime??? Sounds like a spoof to access our username and password if you ask me.

Is v13.10 a Security Threat ?!?!?

Thanks!
Rick

I think you have a lot of other problems, maybe hardware issues, based on some of your other posts. If you feel uncomfortable with "v13.10" just use some other distro or Windows.

Other posts have to deal with other computers, as I have 4 with different versions of Ubuntu (K,X,studio) and one trashed Desktop due to NO Drivers for SIS video. This computer referred to in this posting, has the following.

Intel Pent. 2800 Mhz
1GB Ram
Radeon 7000 64MB AGP w/DVI & Svideo out
1 Generic DVD drive (operable as it installed ubuntu)

I would give a complete Printout of LSHW, but can't even get LibreOffice to run.

Any suggestions? Is this the correct forum to Post Problems with Beta Releases?

AND NO - Reverting to Windows is NOT an Option. But I may roll it back to v12.04 and get 569 updates, most of which are not applicable as I have no Printer, Running one flavor -don't need Gnome compats, etc.

Have you tried running memtest for a few hours?

No !

After looking at the P/O above, it shows 1019 MiB (what is that Men In Black?),
But I have 1.5 GB installed. Will pull them and take a closer look, and report back.
NOTE: MemTest is confirmed on computer startup.

I knew I had 3 Mem-sticks, but 2 were 333/512, and 1 was 400/512. Removed the 400 Mhz mem-chip and ....

No Crash as of yet, with both Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird open.

Will consider this CASE CLOSED ! ! !
