Hello all,
I couldn't find any answers after about 30 mins of searching the web. My battery life on my dell precision running ubuntu 13.04 is awful. I am considering dual booting lubuntu as a small partition to only boot when i needed to use the laptop without a power source. it only lasts about an 1-2 hours without power
Would this make a considerable difference or would this be a waste of time?
Also would sharing home with all files be an issue? I have a seperate home hdd. Sorry if im a n00b.
Thanks for the help!

Often the video driver. Is this a dual video system. Intel often has better battery life, nVidia gives performance but not battery life.

Whether UEFI or BIOS see comment on bumblebee
Ubuntu on the Precision M3800 or XPS15 Nov 2013

All things (say, drivers) being equal Lubuntu will give a longer battery life than Ubuntu, especially if you shut down unneeded daemons.
