View Full Version : [lubuntu] Trying to install on iMac G5 PowerPC - Can't boot from disc

I'm currently trying to follow this guide: http://powerpcliberation.blogspot.com/2012/10/lubuntu-install-guide.html

I have an iMac G5 that I got from my in-laws. I don't have any of the OSX discs or any of that. Just the computer itself.

I wanted to put Lubuntu on there and use it as an internet machine. But as it stands, I can't get anything to boot from CD. I've tried 3 different flavors of Ubuntu and burned them all at slowest speed, but when I boot the iMac and hold down C, as I've been told, it just boots up like normal.

I've also not been very lucky in finding info directly about the iMac G5, and it's making me think there may be something specifically weird about this model. Plenty of iMac and G4 and powerpc info, but nothing specifically about the iMac G5.

So I'm pretty much having issues right from the start. Any ideas?
