Can someone please post a link to a PCMCIA wireless card that just works in Ubuntu?

I mean one I literally just plugin, and it will work. No firmware, no NDIS wrapper, no headache.

I would... love you... if you did...

My 802.11g Xterasys XN-2423G card worked right out of the box. Got it for around $19.00 IIRC. I use WEP, though, haven't tried it with WPA...

Any card with the rtl8180 chip set, but it's only B.

The MSI cards also use the RARlink open source driver that means it works right out of the box too :). Mine is not a pcmcia but it worked without a hitch.

Any card with a ralink/prism chipset should be good. As far as I know the Cisco Aironet Client adapters 340/350 use the ralink or prism chipset.

Yes that is the one, that is why I bought it.

Congrats to you for wanting to do research before buying something that "just works" in Linux.

I spent 2 months reading before I decided on that card, and I wouldn't waste your time if I wasn't sure.

Have fun when you go WiFi....I love it on mine!

I use the version 3 of this one (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1115416828350&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper) on two different computers. It works great for me, although I only use WEP and I don't need speeds over b.

Okay... just to be sure on this, I order the card, take it out of the box, plug it in, turn on my PC, and it will just work.

Is that a correct estimation of things? If so, I am ordering it ASAP...

I had a Ralink one, it didn't work with WPA. It will with Edgy though, as its kernel has the new driver in it.

Thats what happened with mine...it just works.

Office Depot carries them in my town....just thought I would throw that out there. And no I dont work or get paid to endorse that store, just telling you where I got mine is all.

This oo worked right out of the box for me - using a WEP key with it.

I can't seem to connect to my WEP network...
