I have a 2008 Dell that I wanted to boot from a 13.10 64 bit desktop Ubuntu cd, but it simply goes to Windows 8 as normal. I press F12 and choose boot from CD-ROM, but it doesn't work. I even set it to boot from the CD drive first from the Bios, but nothing, it always boots from the HD and to Win 8. What can I do to intall Ubuntu on this PC?

Thanks

How did you create the 13.10 CD as I think the 13.10 iso has to be burnt onto a DVD?

You could try using a USB stick instead of a DVD.

Have you tried to boot the CD on another system?

What are the specifications of your computer?

You could try the 32-bit system instead.

Good Luck
