Is it just me or has a troll turned up in our forums.

I have noticed a couple now from guest entries whose name always starts merl pointing out about lowest rates or something.

Here is one of them (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=104744#post104744)

Can a moderator please check and remove all of these cause in my humble opinion it is the last thing we need around here [-X

Those posts are actually in the mailing list, which is simply copied to the forums here. We can remove the posts, but we can't prevent the spam from getting on the mailing lists.

Thanks for letting me know that it is being dealt with. I appreciate what your saying about it getting there in the first place :(

We try to catch them all, and remove them from the forums, as best we can... :)

In the future, please use the 'Report Post' (yellow triangle w/ exclaimation mark) button located to the left of each post to get Moderator attention. This protects your anonymity, and makes it easier for mods to find.

Every day, I get 5 reported posts about low interest rates, just to find that they're in the mailing list archives.

Our job is to moderate our forums... It's Canonical's job to moderate their lists -- we simply archive it and provide a decent threaded client.

If something's REALLY obscene there, fine, we'll remove it. I don't want my first 2 pages of e-mails to be spam reportings from the mailing lists!
