Ubuntu 13.10, Gnome 3.8.
6 workspaces:

9 workspaces - starting to vanish off the right hand edge:

12 workspaces - um, where'd they go? You can just about see the edge of the active workspace:

I want 12, and I want to be able to see them. :(
Suggestions to fix? (The Workspace Grid shell extension might solve this problem except that it introduces a new one: both the right & left hand launchers show only the first six icons/workspaces with the rest disappearing off the bottom of the screen.)
