I'm trying to find a way to reduce the pressure needed to activate the notification tray in gnome 3. This is a known issue (https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=694467) but there doesn't seem to be any way of changing it other than hacking the js (http://worldofgnome.org/barriers-smooth-scrolling-osds-in-gnome-3-8/#comment-838784622). I'd be happy to do this, but I can't find the file (/usr/share/gnome-shell/js/ui/layout.js) that I need to edit in my installation.... I installed gnome3 from the ubuntu repositories, from which I got gnome-session 3.9.90 but gnome-shell doesn't seem to be installed.

How can I edit this value? Is there a better way than editing the js file, and if not, where can I find the js file I need on ubuntu?
