Upgrade to Ubuntu13.10 frozen

Help !
my on line upgrade (I think from 13.04) to 13.10 has frozen during installing the upgrades.
Message is Preparing to configure xorg-docs-core.

I have not interfered but just left the pc while I seek advice.

Any ideas what i should do next?

I'm seeing the same thing here.

Ubuntu 13.04 x64 on an AMD Athlon X2 with 8GB of RAM and plenty of free disk space (800+ GB).

The distibution upgrade window is doing the faded-out thing that windows do when the program is not responding.
