Ok I had a wierd problem last night. I run my unbuntu box mostly as a develoment box and as a game server but last night my wife wanted to use it to serf some webpages so I started X for her using "sudo /etc/init.d/gdm start" and when she was done is I issued the stop. My problem is that after this my console sessions would not wake up ie the screen was blank and look like it was in powersave mode
I could login and I issues a reboot and the screen work up after the reboot but my question is why? I should mention that I also started X again before I rebooted to see it that would fix the probelm but the consoles would not "wake".
