Hi there

I'm trying to install 12.04 on an old PC that I am attempting to rebuild.

The PC currenty does not have a CD or DVD drive so I'm booting the installation from USB.

Specs are AMD Sempron 2800+, 1GB ram. onboard VIA K8M800-CE integrated graphics.

The installation gets to a certain point before the desktop appears, then my monitor seems to lose the signal. The "No Signal" screen is displayed on the monitor, as when the PC is turned off.

The appears to be no disk activity at this point and even the switching of the keyboard LEDs Num Lock, etc.) seems to stop functioning.

The PC, however, stays powered on.

Any ideas? Is this due to a graphics incompatibility? My monitor works in 1024 x 768 resolution on my laptop.

RAM has been checked with memtest86 and is reported as OK.

'Ive tried selecting the "nomodeset" option in the boot menu but it has no effect.

Is there any way of booting the installation in a lower graphics mode?

I don't have an installation of Windows on the PC, so can't test for which graphics modes are available in the hardware.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Will
