Hello,

I have configured a Ubuntu 12.04 LTS PC to be accessed by a Win7 PC via Remote Desktop => XRDP. It works good, there are no problems. Now I want to run the PC locally again. But the gui/desktop of Ubuntu is not showing up. I'm in the console mode all the time. I'm able to log in but I don't know how I can exit the console and start the desktop. Does anyone know how I can do that?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Enrico

Have you tried cycling through your consoles? Hold Ctrl and Alt and tap through F1-F8. Also, try logging into a console and enter the command startx. That used to work years ago, I am not sure if they have changed it or not. Finally, and I hate to ask this, have you tried rebooting?
