app pamcomp missing from netpbm

I have a script that uses 'pamcomp'. It is missing from 'netpbm' which is in the repository. I have 'netpbm' installed.

There is only 1 post on this website about the missing 'pamcomp' and it is 5 years old and has no solution.

Where can I find a copy of this? Perhaps the source code to 'pamcomp'.

OR
I need a video crossfade script. Got any leads? Either 'ffmpeg' or 'mencoder'.

Is there someplace I can get a compiled 'netpbm'. I have been trying to compile it from the source on Source Forge. Get failure because of dependency problems.
