I upgraded my system yesterday to 13.10. It took quite a while to actually get through the upgrade but it seems that all the files are finally installed, set-up and upgraded. However, the sound isn't working at all. No videos or music files play audio and I only have two resolution options for my screen: 1024x768 or 800x600, neither of which fit/ look very good. Does anyone know what I should do?

Was able to solve this for now by loading an old kernel (3.8.0-31-generic) from the loader menu at start-up. Everything is working fine with this kernel. Sound is resolved, internet works, resolution is back to normal. Even my skype is working (http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2176423&p=12798472#post12798472)!
