I just finished upgrading my laptop which was running 12.10 just fine. It's a dual boot/drive system with windoze7 on a separate drive. Ubuntu is on its own drive. After the install
the computer came up with the grub menu. When I choose ubuntu the bootloader starts to load ubuntu giving the version logo then stops the boot and shuts down the computer.
If i try the advanced options and go to the recovery menu and attempt failsafex I get a blank screen and the laptop cooling fans turn on. A hard shutdown is then required. Thoughts?

Have you tried the recovery mode. Should be second entry, but may be in a sub-menu under other boot options.

Image 3.11.0-12-generic fails boot sequence
Image 3.8.0-31-generic worked, but it came up with errors that Ubuntu sent out to the developers.
Really happy to at least be able to use Ubuntu. Windoze hurts.
Will keep checking for a solution to the 3.11.0-12-generic image

If 3.8 that sounds like the kernel form 12.10, so did upgrade not fully complete?
