I just finished upgrading my laptop which was running 12.10 just fine. It's a dual boot/drive system with *******7 on a separate drive. Ubuntu is on its own drive. After the install
the computer came up with the grub menu. When I choose ubuntu the bootloader starts to load ubuntu giving the version logo then stops the boot and shuts down the computer.
If i try the advanced options and go to the recovery menu and attempt failsafex I get a blank screen and the laptop cooling fans turn on. A hard shutdown is then required. Thoughts?

Have you tried the recovery mode. Should be second entry, but may be in a sub-menu under other boot options.

Image 3.11.0-12-generic fails boot sequence
Image 3.8.0-31-generic worked, but it came up with errors that Ubuntu sent out to the developers.
Really happy to at least be able to use Ubuntu. ******* hurts.
Will keep checking for a solution to the 3.11.0-12-generic image
