I'm tossing around the idea of building my own Ubuntu Power Machine from the bottom up.

So I'm looking for advice regarding the hardware specifics that are current and do actually work ..... I'm not interesting in experimenting.

I would like to put together or find a laundry list containing all the required hardware I can purchase either at my local Micro Center or over the web.

What my system will be used for:

1. Coding, web developemnt, desktop application development.
2. Photography Image Processing (probably video also).
3. Some gaming (FPS stuff).
4. Possible move to an Ubuntu Server scenario.

3 hard drives minimum
Lastest & fastest motherboard, processors, graphics
Minumin 12 gig of memory.
Will allow for multiple monitors.

If there's already a recent thread available, please point me to it.

If you know of any sites I can browse that may provide additional instight please provide.

I'd appreciate any help.

Thanks.
