my question is this: can i simply put my ubuntu image disc or usb in and completely erase windows 8. or do i have to disable the secure bootloader?

i am in the process of buying a new laptop - system 76 is a little pricey for me.

I have been an ubuntu user for 7yrs. I absolutely hate windows 8 and have no problem getting completely rid of it.
i also have access to a dual booted desktop with mint, ubuntu, gnome3, and windows 7(so i have lots of other options to windows 8)

thanks
