I'm sorry I asked this on SuseForums.net and I didn't get much of answer, so I decided to ask it here. Please don't get mad at me for posting Suse questions here.

I just want to know if Suse, or someone else is going to do a port of slab to kde, or if its going to possibly be included in kde 4.

I using the Suse Enterprise 10 pre-release right now, and I have a kubuntu 6.06 live disk

is this (http://human-factors.arc.nasa.gov/SLAB/index.html) what slab is? its not clear what you're referring to (i had never herd of it until 10 seconds ago), so i thought i'd make it clear for everyone else.
as or your question, i've not heard of anything of that nature on linux...yet. maybe there is, but because i'm not likely to going looking for something like that, i probably can't help you. maybe somebody else can.

For a different project, with a similar goal (that being to reform the "boring" menu's), check out kbfx for KDE.

It's very buggy ATM, but still usable.

As it stands, I prefer the "boring" kmenu.

Both projects look promising though, I hope they are successful.

thats why its called a slab, I know that kbfx is working on one, but I would really like to see a kde version of the slab that worked just like the gnome one

These are all fast responses, I had to wait 5 days to get a response, and all they only told me that I could run gnome apps in kde which is of no help to me

Found these links while doing a Google search on SUSE slab:

http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=208131

I'm guessing it's only available in SUSE GNOME. SUSE KDE has a different menu style. I think it closely resembles this KDE-Apps entry: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=41866 (I'm not totally sure. I haven't used SUSE).

The problem with these "projects" is that they rarely become "standard" or "official" KDE projects. Most probably because they are very distro-specific projects. They would also be probably hard to integrate into other distros. But since their source code is probably available (not sure for SLED/SLES), then a "hack" could probably be made by someone who has the knowledge and resources, just like the Tasty Menu which I linked to.

its fully open source, and is in the gnome cvs. There is also a ubuntu package on this forum that you can use to add it to your system

maybe this isn't as wide spread as I thought it was, I'll a few months then spam the forums with this questions, thanks everyone

in that case, apologies. i really hadn't heard of it before.

Of course it's open source. I mean it should be. But I presumed that part of your question was about SUSE's slab (or it's counterpart menu in KDE) to be included as an official feature in KDE (at least KDE 4). I'm just expressing some of my doubts about the possibility of it being officially included in KDE (base). But a port to KDE might be possible, but probably a bit difficult since it's originally in GNOME. I also thought that SUSE has it's own "unique" menu system for it's KDE version. I'm just not sure what the name of that menu is.
