I used to have a desktop interface on 10.04 server.
Installed 12.04.3, git the no frills text-only interface, such as server is normally intended to remain... and then did the command:
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop
just like i had done years ago on 10.04. After install, creen went black, I shutted down and rebooted, but now I get ''Ubuntu Desktop'' in upper left corner, no buttons such as administrative tasks I had in 10.04...
Am I stucked with a ''desktop installation'' now ? If not, what have changed from 10.04 that would now allow me to get functions such as: Samba, NTFS configuration, disk utiities, and the many ''real man'' stuff ? :)
Thanks,
B.
