Running Ubuntu 12.04 and it is stalling at the puprle screen with dots. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I would start with a fresh install if need be, and I have tried booting from a live CD, but it still does the same thing. The cd will boot my other system, BTW, so I think that disk is OK. When it stalls at the purple screen and I hit escape, the following screen shows up:
246560

A description of your computer might be helpful: CPU, RAM, video adapter are the main factors. Brand and model never hurts.

Thanks very much for the reply. With regards to my system: 8 GB memory, Ubuntu 12.04 (precise), 32 bit, AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 450 Processor × 3

Anyways, as I could not even boot from a live disk, I pulled the hard drive, formatted the hard drive, reinstalled the hard drive, and reinstalled ubuntu. Not convenient but I'm back up and running.
