hi,
I faced this same issue on ubuntu 12.04 after an update and switched to 13.04 but still every now and then the system abruptly shows a black screen with bunch of debug messages amongst which "unable to resolve kernel null pointer difference" seems to show up as an error message. Any idea why this is happening ? I was using ubuntu 12.04 for over 6 months now and have used previous versions on the same laptop successfully without such issues.
