I haven't tried out K3D yet, and have only tried Blender for a short while. So I'm just assuming that K3D will look and integrate better in Ubuntu since it's a GNOME project.

However, I'd have to say that, in the long run, Blender might be a better choice. It was a commercial app that was turned open source. It also has a wider user base, and a bit of more support. It's also actively being developed (the latest release was just announced a few days ago). The only problem is that it doesn't really look that "integrated", whatever desktop you use. And the UI is a bit unconventional.

Blender is cross-platform and includes a physics engine, game engine, tons of plugins, import/export to other major formats and the latest version includes a video editor (even in Linux it seems!). They also just started work on the old web-plugin that allows you to create full 3D games and then post them on your website!

I'm actually hoping that Blender gets added to the repositories as a current/updated application, rather than the old link it is now. Especially if the video editor portion works well in Linux. As for gnome integration . . . what would that mean? I can't see how you would need it integrated in any way.
