Put Printing on Dsktop

Is it possible to put a message of my own making on the desktop?
For instance if I set up Ubuntu for a friend I would put on the desktop " Set up by " My name here"

Actually you could just do an OEM installation (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Ubuntu_OEM_Installer_Overview) and let your friend set up his/her account, if that's what you are looking for.

Ubuntu will ask him/her to fill in the account details when he/she will boot ubuntu for the first time.

You can even install extra software and any drivers, if needed, before giving the PC to your friend etc etc.

If the user name is not enabled it can be , but set the account up first and see if it is displayed .
