Scientists at Belgium’s Leuven University have proved that helmets made from aluminium foil can offer wearers protection from aliens.

That's what they want you to think. The sad truth is that the foil hat acts as a resonant cavity and actually amplifies the mind control waves - it gives them such good control that you can't even remember having been abducted. Foil hats were invented by the aliens.

The key is to use multiple sheets and rotate the directions when you make the hat. The article failed to mention that.

Forum members have known the benefits of tinfoil for years: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1501407&page=2&highlight=foil

It is called a tin-foil hat for a reason. You want real tin-foil, none of the cheap imitation Aluminium stuff that does not work.

Is that why it's called tin-foil, because it foils aliens..

Well, that explains why tinfoil is so expensive. I think gold foil will work as well, but that is really expensive. That is probably why NASA wrapped their spacecraft with it.

Aluminum foil does work to an extent, but it is only 20% as effective as tin. Gold is extremely effective.

The real problem is that just a "hat" is insufficient whether made of tin, aluminum or gold.

To be 100% effective, the foil must completely wrap the head. Holes cut for ears, eyes nose or mouth negate the effectiveness. The best solution is to completely wrap the head in multiple layers of foil all the way down to the neck, where it should be secured tightly by several wraps of duct tape. Within 2 to 7 minutes, the subject will be free from the influence of mind control by either aliens or the NSA.

A friend of mine dressed up as an alien once by wrapping himself head to toe in aluminium foil. It Iooked awesome and he spent 2 hours that way, heating up until he panicked and we had to tear the stuff off his soaking wet body

Those were the fun days.

Sorry, what were we talking about? I got completely distracted by the revelation that Microsoft bought Betamax (http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2013/09/04/microsoft-buys-betamax/).

Dude! Have you heard of something called a thumbnail?

Why? Does it work as well as tinfoil?

Not in my experience - much too small.

Besides, walking around with your hand on your head all the time gets to be tedious.
