View Full Version : [ubuntu] upgrade to 12.4 lts from unsupported earlier version

September 4th, 2013, 09:45 PM
I have an old version of Ubuntu running and haven't had problems with it. Which is why I haven't upgraded.
I would like to upgrade to 12.04 LT because I want stability, and by now I would guess any bugs have been worked out. But how do you upgrade without losing all your aps, programs, etc. that have already been installed? For example, Think Or Swim desktop trade platform. If I can't take my stuff with me, then I have no use for an upgrade. I'm not an "experimenter".

If I try to do an upgrade within my version of Ubuntu it just tells me I have an unsupported system and nothing else.

Anyone with any ideas?
