I installed ubuntu 13.04 to dual boot with windows 7, everything went smooth and it installed correctly. 10 minutes after i was logged in with ubuntu my monitor went into power saving mode and it stayed like that in spite of everything i did. I was currently using the computer when this happened. I tried to figure out what the problem was. I tried different monitors but the problem still happened. I changed the settings in power management and turned off the screensaver but still nothing. I used caffeine and it didnt work so i tried with older releases: 12.10, 12.04 and yet again the problem was there. Im not sure what is causing the problem and i think its hardware related but this never happened with windows.

My current system is this:

Inter Core 2 Duo E8400 @3.0 Ghz
4 GB RAM DDR2
2 WD HDD, 500GB and 1 TB (I've installed the OS' on the first HDD)
ATI RADEON HD 4850 512MB
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro
PSU 550W
Monitor LG FLATRON 19' Max resolution: 1440x900

**UPDATE**

After some more hardcore searching I think I found out that the problem concerns my graphic card, I booted with "nomodeset" and there was no problem and as soon as i switch to my graphic card the monitor goes immediately into power saving mode.
