View Full Version : [SOLVED] Installing Opera

I have downloaded the Linux version of Opera from their site but cannot get it to run. Tried the search in the Software Centre but does not show up.
Can oneone give me the Terminal command ?

Whats the exact name of the package that you downloaded? How did you try to run it? One last question...what OS are you using?

OS Ubuntu 12.04 LTE
Download File using the Dash search gives:opera_12.16.1860_amd64.deb

Downloaded twice once as Save and other Open ( which should have opened from Software Centre).

You downloaded the right package. Its a .deb package so all you should have to do is double click it. This should bring up a package installer.

Yes I double clicked the file icon and it came up in the Software Centre with an Error : Wrong architecture 'amd64' What does that mean ?

Realized it means 64 bit version so have found the 32 bit (i386) version and got it running - thanks for your help about duble clicking on file !
