I'm hoping that there is someone out there that can help me with this. I have an old Android tablet that nolonger boots android. It just hangs on the green dancing android logo. I can't seem to do hard reset or anything like that so i'm not how I can get it to boot to roms etc.

The aim is that if possible I'd like to fully wipe it and install ubuntu on it.

A before anyone asks it was a cheap china tablet so I have no idea what brand to say is. I the some way that I can access the storage replace android with Ubuntu?

Thanks Topsiho, however this doesn't seem to work, tablet doesn't seem to boot in differently. Still sits at the green android logo, and adb doesn't see the device. Is there any other way that I can some access the storge chip and completly replace android with Ubuntu?

The tablet doesn't go, it boots no further than green android logo startup screen. So I've got nothing to loose, I'd just like to take a shot at salvaging the paper weight that it is.

How about flashing rom with manufacuters update in order to get thing booting as intended.?

Removing battery should reveal a sticker with device details such vendor identification and model number. It should then be as simple as going to vendor website for instruction to update android in order to get booting.

It may be your device has recovery options that will need user input to bring up recovery menu.

Once you have make and model information and a booting device simply search web for "device vendor device model number unlock root ".

The follow https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Install#Flashing_the_device but please take note of disclaimer and what supported devices are listed. Make sure your device meets specification requirements. There is no harm trying any device as long as you have made the necessary backups and have root ownership.

A more complete list of known devices to work can also be found on the Ubuntu Documentation pages https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Touch/Devices#Working.2C_but_not_available_from_cdimage. ubuntu.com
