I'm trying to install Ubuntu 12.04.2-desktop-i386 on an Intel Mac Mini with OS X 10.4. I've used Unetbootin to create a bootable USB of Ubuntu, but when I select Linux (rather than OS X) the screen goes black and I get a terminal reading that says BOOT ERROR. Total noob, no idea what to do, haven't been able to Google specific-enough instructions to figure this out. Help would be super-appreciated.

Am currently trying to convert the .iso Ubuntu file to a .dmg, using the Mac terminal (I'm following the installation directions here [http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-mac-osx] and the .iso-to-.dmg instructions here [http://osxdaily.com/2009/09/09/convert-a-dmg-to-iso-and-convert-iso-to-dmg-on-mac/]).

GOT IT! I'm now running Ubuntu from the USB before installing it...it's super-slow for some reason...Ay ideas why?

It's considerably faster once installed.

Good to know, tnx. Do you know if I need to install any drivers or mess with the hardrive's partitions?
