Let me explain.....
Partition 1 has Ubuntu 12.04LTS. This install I have badly corrupted, to the extent that Ubuntu will not boot, nor will any of the earlier kernel versions. I can access all the files and have backed up everything I need.
Partition 2 has Ubuntu 13.04 and is a clean new install with no added apps etc.
Partition 3 is Win XP
How can I use the /home folder from partition 1 with the copy of ubuntu on partition 2?
Could I create another partition for a new /home and copy all the files from partition 1? Or if I reinstall 13.04 on partition 2 will the option during install to import settings work?
What I need to end up with is 13.04 with all my settings from my original (12.04) install. I do not want to have to set up email and download thousands of emails from my server and I also need to access thunderbird archived emails. I don't mind reinstalling programs, but things like bookmarks, tomboy notes, etc I need to retrieve.
Hope the question is clear. And somebody knows the answer!
Thanks
