Can't move, copy, delete or open files from MTP share in Thunar

Hello,

My Android phone is connected to my computer as an MTP device. In Thunar I can browse the phone and see thumbnails of all the image files on it. What I can't do is move, copy, delete or open the files. Trying to do some of those things, such as deleting a file, will cause Thunar to freeze. How can I fix this?

I have realised now that the files are being copied when I try to copy them. However their names are lost and replaced with 5 digit numbers. Is this problem unique to XFCE, or do Unity, Gnome etc suffer from it too?

To answer my own question, this is a problem particular to Thunar. You should use Nautilus instead.
