View Full Version : [ubuntu] Ubuntu Notifications Kill Graphics Performance with AMD Catalyst

Notifications (skype, weather applet, etc.) appear even when I'm in a fullscreen game, and when they do, performance immediately degrades, and stays degraded even after I quit the game and am using the desktop, or if I restart the game.
If I start the computer and let a notification appear performance is not degraded - it only happens when I have something graphics-intensive application running.
By performance degrades, I mean the game starts stuttering frames (guess 15 fps) and when back at the unity desktop, there's no 'fluidity'. If I drag a window to the side, it'll sit with the orange outline for a full second or more before it snaps into place.

Is there any configuration I can change to fix this or prevent notifications for causing problems?
