[Error] 'E:Malformed line 1 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list.d/google.list (dist)

This is using ubuntu 12.04:
I tried to install google chrome but that didn't work, now I get that error.
Also, software manager kept crashing so I tried a fix I found on forums and used the purge command. now it doesnt even open.
Help would be appreciated

I did what he said but it just said that the command was not found. I opened up the file but there was no explanation about what to add or what to change

I solved my problem with the software center. The chrome problems has seemed to dissapeare, trying chromium instead. Thanks a lot! Thread can be closed
