View Full Version : [SOLVED] Install Ubuntu over Window 8, mostly :D

Hello, I am installing Ubuntu on my new HP laptop, but would like to keep my Win8 recovery partition intact (in case I sell it someday or something). I ususally let Ubuntu do its own partitioning but this time I plan to do it. It's 640GB. I don't really know too much about swap partitions, ext3, or ext4. I know OF them, but not enough ABOUT them to really make an informed decision. I searched for "default" partitions but didn't find anything particularly helpful. Can someone help me out please :D ?

edit: I have created the recovery media for Windows 8 on 3 DVDL discs, does anyone know if those will restore that partition ?

Never mind, apparently the recovery media has the option to recover all the partitions. Mods please delete?

Because of the potential for the edification of other members, we usually don't remove threads in this sort of case.

Glad you figured it out!

Cheers!
