Created a kub cd (amd64 alt cd). Shrinked partitions C and D on a new asus comp. Placed the CD in cd drive. Opened/restarted the computer. Nothing happens. Maybe computer tries to read cd contents, but absolutely nothing happens. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Planning to install encrypted kubuntu alongside existing windows; or better, create two separate kubuntus (of the same version), or (the last option) erase everything and create one fuly encrypted kub. Since nothing happens I have nothing to do. There is no problem with CD itself becasue it was tested o another computer and it works there.

Double check the BIOS/UEFI is set to boot from CD/DVD. Or use the menu to choose the boot device if such a menu exists on the machine (usually F10, F2, something like that when booting).

What model Asus?
Is this Windows 8 pre-installed? Then you have UEFI and need to turn fast boot off and secure boot off first.

Also if UEFI see my signature.
