Hi all - what I heard of rumours, there should be a project somewhere (canonical?), to develop and produce a smart phone, in particular built, to run with linux os. (Because excisting systems force linux out). Does someone know more details? Perhaps this project would not refer to ubuntu, in the case it would be another distribution used? Or is it used actually?
:P

All Android phoens run linux. It's just Android/Linux instead of Gnu/Linux like in Ubuntu. The Nokia N900 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nokia_N900) running Maemo is very hard to find but can be obtained with enough work. But it got excellent reviews and the remaining units are highly sought after.

Yes, I threw in a donation to the indigo project, only because "what the ****! linux is worth it". I believe april and may 2014 you will start seeing these new phones, start saving your pennies!!

More like the other way around. IOS is the only system that has been able to withstand the Android juggernaut. Windows Phone, Blackberry, Nokia, etc have all been squished. Apple have only been able to hang onto their high-end corner of the market because they were there first (so have the developer momentum), have a loyal fanbase and good marketing. Android does well against IOS at the high-end and totally dominates on the cheaper phones.
