View Full Version : Moving Ubuntu 12.x from a VirtualBox installation to its own server

I have Ubuntu 12.x running on a fairly robust Win 7 machine under VirtualBox right now, and I'm loving it. I have port forwarding set so that it's my domain's web server running Apache 2 and it's also doing mail forwarding to Gmail. The time has come for it to live on its own machine, though, and I'd like advice on the best way to do that.

Do I set up the new machine with Ubuntu and then try to port the data? What would be the best way to "move" the web server? Would it even be possible to try to image a hard drive with the VirtualBox disk image and just try to fool it into thinking it's now on the new machine?

Thanks in advance.
