13.04 Brother HL-6050DN installation issues of network printer

Ubuntu 13.04 IP: 192.168.1.124
Brother HL-6050DN IP 192.168.1.138

I tried to install the printer $system-config-printer
the 'test page' prints just fine - however when I try to print my a page from my browser (Southwest/Boarding Pass) the printer sits idle for 10+ minutes.

I had the printer working under 12.04... and now I am a bit lost on what to do next.

*I checked System-settings -> printers -> access control -> policies
and checked the boxes: enabled accepting jobs shared

The Printer State says: Idle - unable to add document to print job.

Does the printer print anything except a test page? For example from LibreOffice or gedit? I've printed boarding passes with no issues on other Brother printers no issues. A couple thoughts -

- Print the boarding pass using 'print to file' then try to print the resulting .pdf file
- Reinstall the Brother printer using Brother's installer script. That has worked reliably for me especially on 64 bit O.S.s when Brother printer drivers are 32 bit.

Well -- simple text prints. Complex stuff like a boarding pass sits in the queue "processing" for 10+ minutes... and at minute #11 I killed the job.
