Hello, ill get straight to it. Downloaded the os and wont install on computer. I am a little new at this so if anybody can be clear that would be great. Its an old computer very slow. At least compared to my others. But when I hit the USB option from the boot menu it just says "Searching for Boot Record from USB RMD-FDD..OK" Thank you very much. Oh and that's all it does. Just hangs on that one line of text.

First of all, what Hardware does your "old computer" have? Like CPU, RAM, Graphics...?
Have you checked the integrity of the downloaded Ubuntu.iso with MD5Sum Check (https://help.ubuntu.com/community/HowToMD5SUM)? It can be case of BAD BURNING. Try burning it again to the USB, (by the way how did you Burn the .iso to the USB?) Try Unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) or Win32 Disk Imager (http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/) to burn your .iso to USB.
If you have RAM less than 2gb then Ubuntu is not good, you must try XUbuntu. Or if your RAM is less than or equal to 1gb then LUbuntu is your best bet.

Some 'old computers' cannot boot from USB drive, even though they can read and write to them.
It is important that you give us as much info about your 'old computer' as you can.
