Undetermined package name

I cannot download emacs23 to U12.04. Following a tip to another user, I tried "apt-get clean" and then "apt-get update". Update failed after some activity with this message:

This was followed by alerts: "...12.04 has experienced an internal error...Could not determine the package or source package name."

What can be tried next?

Hi. Please try:


sudo apt-get clean
cd /var/lib/apt
sudo mv lists lists.old
sudo mkdir -p lists/partial
sudo apt-get clean
sudo apt-get update

On the net there is a bunch of similar problems. Best regards.

In addition to kleenex's advisement:
Add the key:

sudo apt-key adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 2B3F92F902D65EFF
substituting the alpha-numeric string from your (each) errors output.

Problem solved! I did what kleenex said, and it worked fine, unblocking the download. I did not see Bashing-om's added suggestion before I tried it, but appreciate that too. When kleenex says there are similar problems on the Net, I am not sure where, but am well satisfied.
