I have just bought a new laptop. It comes with ubuntu 12.04 installed.

I have finished all updates. I expected update manager then to ask me if I want to update to 13.04 but it wants me to update to 12.10

is there anyway to bypass downloading 12.10 and go directly for 13.04 ??
I dont't have a USB stick or any ubuntu live CDs so I can't download from site.

anyway to update directly from 12.04 to 13.04 ??

It is recommended that upgrades go in order except for LTS releases . 12.04 could upgrade to 14.04 when it is released. I would use 12.04 until a way to create a disk is found because if something goes wrong you will need a disk or USB anyway. 13.04 is only supported until January while 12.04 is supported until 2017 . 13.04 requires a DVD or USB due to the size of the ISO and won't fit on a CD.

There is no supported method. They are in order for a reason: Migration testing is only sequential, since testing resources are limited.
