When it came out in 12.04, I was happy to see an Ubiquity (Mozilla Labs project from 2008) like interface appear in prime time. I thought that with a little bit of elbow grease, all kinds of uses for the HUD would surface in these threads on how to put it to good use. Yet so far the only thing I use it for is Shutdown, and once in while for bookmarks in Firefox (if I'm feeling lucky).

Anyone else have the next insanely great thing idea for the HUD? me thinks one of Ubuntu's key features is being wasted. None of the other Distros has anything like it!

Perhaps this link: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Unity/HUD can help you

Although a bit scrawny, the link supplied has some interesting info. But most significant is the lack thereof, which tells me that this part of Unity has been put on hold, which is to bad. Oh well, GO MIR!
