Hi

I'm having a problem installing Ubuntu on my newly built machine, it keeps getting stuck on "ata7 failed command: IDENTIFY PACKET DEVICE" and never boots. Ive tried different things, like shutting off secure boot and UEFI then switched to legacy only and still got the same error.

Also, Ive even tried pulling out my SSD and GPU and switched to the Intel GPU. Windows 7 works fine and Ive tried Ubuntu 13.04 and 12.04. I'm starting to think its a SATA controller issue that Ubuntu won't read while gathering hardware info on first boot. Also, I have tried installing Ubuntu on a USB and DVD with no success

My specs:

CPU : Intel Core i7-3770K
GPU : EVGA Nvidia GTX 780 3GB
Sound Card : Creative Sound Blaster Z 70SB1500000000 with 5.1 Channels 24-bit
Mother Board : ASUS P8Z77-V PRO
SSD : Samsung 840 Pro 128GB
HDD : Seagate Barracuda 2TB and 7200 RPM
RAM : Corsair Vengeance 2 x8 GB 1600Mhz

To be honest with you I upgraded Ubuntu from 12.10 to 13.04 and it actually broke more things than it fixed. I can understand wanting to be up to date but 12.04 has driver support all the way until 2017. 13.04 only has driver support for up to 7 months after release. I would just stay with 12.04.
