I know very few of you will care, but I find it hard to contain my excitement.

The Who are set for a World Tour this year and are coming to a venue a little over an hour from my place! I got to see them in concert a few years back and it was a hellofa show.

Are there any other Who fans on these forums?

I'm a kinda fan of them. I like their old stuff, I know that, but never really got to listen to them that much. I'd be psyched to see them though, thats for sure.

I saw them in 1975 at Anaheim Statium. Absolutely, the best concert I have ever been to (and I've been to a few).. I'm amazed they're still kickin'.

I used to like them, but have boycotted them since Pete Townshend's "child porn" story broke.

He was in the news the other day too. He was forced to pull a story he was writing off his official website. It was a sexually graphic novel involving teen sex.

The man is disgusting, and in my opinion belongs in jail. The fact that the others havent kicked him out of the band speaks volumes about their personality too IMHO.

So i'm boycotting anything to do with The Who, and I advise others to do the same.

If the allegation's are true, then I certainly agree..

From wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pete_Townshend):

In 2003 Townshend received a police caution after acknowledging a solitary paid access of a child pornography website in 1999. He claimed in the press and on his website to have been engaged in research for "A Different Bomb" (a now abandoned book based on an anti-child pornography essay published on his website) and his autobiography. He was added to the British list of registered sex offenders for five years after police confiscated 14 of his computers and found no child pornography. He claims his autobiography will include his own recollections of being sexually abused as a child, a theme that cropped up in Tommy.

Yeah its true.(Sadly)

He was arrested for downloading child pornography. Then he claimed it was for a book he was writing. He got a caution, and is listed on the UK Sex Offenders Register.

Then, a few weeks/months ago, on his official website he released a story he'd written. It contained graphic references to young teenagers having sex. The press had a field day, and childrens charities wanted him arrested. He then deleted the story from his website.

The guy is sick.

I dont understand why the others in The Who didnt distance themselves from him and kick him out of the band? Not to do so (as they didnt) is to condone his behaviour IMHO.

Its a shame, I liked The Who :(

But I wont support anyone like him in any form, neither will I support anyone who supports him (Like his bandmates). My principals wont let me.

I love The Who, at least the earlier stuff pre-1980. :-D

Obviously the band was better before Moon died. I saw them a couple years ago just after Entwistle died. I was really upset at the time. I took a lot of influence from his playing style.

As far as the child porn allegation, I can't say I know the whole story. I was concerned when I heard about it, but I never heard a follow up story that confirmed the allegations were accurate. I know wikipedia has to be taken with a grain of salt, but the quote that Patbuntu posted seems to clear him of significant wrong-doing. We're all sinners. I obviously don't condone his actions, but that doesn't mean it is an unforgivable offense. God knows his heart and will judge him accordingly.

...Long live rock.
